L.S.F.R.H.
Love Songs For Radio Hell, 2008-ongoing
L.S.F.R.H is an invisible earthwork, which will be located somewhere along Interstate 80 in the vicinity of the Bonneville Salt Flats. It consists of an ongoing low power FM radio broadcast and a compilation CD.
‘Radio Hell’ is that nebulous space in the American west where radio waves from population centers don’t penetrate, and those that do tend to be AM talk shows,
or moribund rock from the late 70s.
A faint radio station can be a tiny link to the larger world. Unlike the internet, new things can be found without knowing to look for them: strange music,
secret messages, a path out of the familiar into a world of different possibilities.
This project is intended to put more radio waves into the Great Basin Deserts, starting with an undisclosed location along Interstate 80.
To avoid a singular perspective in the broadcast (ie: mine), I collected material from sound artists, musicians, radio djs, and many others.
